INRAE presentation
The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (INRAE) is a major player in research and innovation. It is a community of 12,000 people with 272 research, experimental research, and support units located in 18 regional centres throughout France. Internationally, INRAE is among the top research organisations in the agricultural and food sciences, plant and animal sciences, as well as in ecology and environmental science. It is the world’s leading research organisation specialising in agriculture, food and the environment. INRAE’s goal is to be a key player in the transitions necessary to address major global challenges. Faced with a growing world population, climate change, resource scarcity, and declining biodiversity, the Institute has a major role to play in building solutions and supporting the necessary acceleration of agricultural, food and environmental transitions.
Work environment, missions and activities
You will be welcomed in the AgroEcology lab (UMR1347) :
The Agroecology lab develops research on biotics interactions in agrosystems with the aim to design innovative and environment-friendly systems. It offers a post-doctoral fellowship dealing with the C and N cycles functioning in soils from farming sites submitted to contrasting crop managements. This post-doctoral position is part of the PARAD project (https://umr-agroecologie.dijon.hub.inrae.fr/recherche/projets-emblematiques/parad) aiming to anticipate, innovate and support the agroecological transition of weed management. The objective of the post-doctoral research is to evaluate greenhouse gases emissions in farms along a gradient of pesticides use and soil tillage.
You will be in charge of :
In view of improving our assessment of the impact of non-chemical weed management strategies on GHG emissions by farms, the recruited candidate will estimate greenhouse gas emissions (including direct, indirect and induced) emissions and carbon storage by farms with contrasted strategies for weed control. The recruited candidate will process data describing details of cropping systems and crop management in farms of the DEPHY Network (2000 voluntary farmers engaged in the reduction of pesticides). He/she will mobilize different methods of assessment of GHG emissions related to the IPCC (Tier 1 to 3) methodology. He/she will also be able to conduct specific experiments/measurements on direct GHG emission if necessary. He/she will publish obtained results.
Special conditions of activity :
The postdoc position will be located in Dijon where the recruited candidate will be supervised by Dr C. Hénault (UMR
AgroEcologie) and Dr N. Munier-Jolain. It will be integrated into the PARAD project dynamics.
