INRAE presentation
The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (INRAE) is a major player in research and innovation. It is a community of 12,000 people with 272 research, experimental research, and support units located in 18 regional centres throughout France. Internationally, INRAE is among the top research organisations in the agricultural and food sciences, plant and animal sciences, as well as in ecology and environmental science. It is the world’s leading research organisation specialising in agriculture, food and the environment. INRAE’s goal is to be a key player in the transitions necessary to address major global challenges. Faced with a growing world population, climate change, resource scarcity, and declining biodiversity, the Institute has a major role to play in building solutions and supporting the necessary acceleration of agricultural, food and environmental transitions.
Work environment, missions and activities
You will be welcomed in the unit GABI (Animal Genetics and Integrative Biology) joint research unit (UMR), one of the main UMRs of the Animal Genetics division (GA), on the INRAE Jouy-en-Josas research centre. The research conducted by the GA division aims at making genetic diversity a major lever for the design of sustainable breeding systems based on the principles of agroecology. The research conducted at INRAE relies on collective tools (experimental facilities, analytical or computing platforms, etc.), organised into research infrastructures (RI) with a high level of technology and expertise in their field of activity. The GA division co-leads a research infrastructure dedicated to livestock phenotyping (LIPH4SAS: “Livestock Phenotyping for sustainable agricultural systems”), recently labelled as a strategic infrastructure by the Ministry of Research. LIPH4SAS brings together the skills of more than 250 people working on the main livestock species (cattle, goats, sheep, fish, pigs) within 10 different entities spread over the French territory.
You will act as a project leader under the supervision of the LIPH4SAS infrastructure management. You will support them in the management of LIPH4SAS. You will benefit from a stimulating environment, close to the research teams of the GABI unit, a major user of LIPH4SAS services.
You will be more specifically in charge of:
- Supporting the management of LIPH4SAS in the monitoring, coordination and animation of LIPH4SAS: collection and circulation of information between the constituent entities and with partner structures (other experimental units, other infrastructures in complementary fields of expertise), links with the user units and research teams;
- Contributing to the implementation of the external communication policy of LIPH4SAS; you will be responsible for the website (targets, identification and formatting of contents), for the visibility on social networks, and you will manage the organisation of events (seminars, webinars, etc.) or training courses;
- Ensuring the organisation of meetings of the infrastructure's steering boards (scientific council, steering committee, etc.)
- Coordinating, in interaction with the heads of the various LIPH4SAS entities and the scientists involved, the drafting and formatting of reports on the scientific activity conducted within LIPH4SAS (description of research programmes, research highlights, activity reports, results dissemination).
Special conditions of activity: You will be based in Jouy-en-Josas (F-78350) and may be required to travel occasionally in France (in particular to the various entities of the infrastructure) and in Europe (conferences, etc.).
