INRAE presentation
The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (INRAE) is a major player in research and innovation. It is a community of 12,000 people with 272 research, experimental research, and support units located in 18 regional centres throughout France. Internationally, INRAE is among the top research organisations in the agricultural and food sciences, plant and animal sciences, as well as in ecology and environmental science. It is the world’s leading research organisation specialising in agriculture, food and the environment. INRAE’s goal is to be a key player in the transitions necessary to address major global challenges. Faced with a growing world population, climate change, resource scarcity, and declining biodiversity, the Institute has a major role to play in building solutions and supporting the necessary acceleration of agricultural, food and environmental transitions.
Work environment, missions and activities
The MIA Paris-Saclay joint research unit is offering a 24-month postdoctoral position in the DigitWine project, which aims to create a “digital twin” to monitor wine fermentation in real time. The role involves designing and prototyping interactive visualization interfaces to exploit dynamic and multidimensional data, reduce the cognitive load on operators, and support sustainable viticulture. The candidate must hold a PhD in computer science (data visualization, human-machine interaction, or a related field), be proficient in programming languages such as JavaScript, D3.js, and Python, have experience in designing interfaces or visualization tools, and be able to conduct user studies.
The MIA Paris-Saclay joint research unit, associated with AgroParisTech, INRAE, and Paris-Saclay University, brings together computer scientists and statisticians specializing in modeling and learning for the life sciences, ecology, and agri-food.
The EkINocs team focuses on leveraging expert knowledge, interactive modeling, exploratory visualization, and automatic learning for understanding and multicriteria decision-making in complex, dynamic systems.
