What is the Junior professor chair?
A pre-tenure contract that should lead to a full-tenure position as Research Director (DR2)
This is a new career route at INRAE. It enables the recruitment of scientists based on a research and teaching project that lasts three years. At the end of this period, and following an assessment of your scientific achievements and professional capabilities, you may obtain a full-tenure position as Research Director (DR2).
A research and teaching agreement will specify the path you will follow towards full-tenure and enable you to acquire the qualifications necessary to become a full-tenure Research Director in your field.
Who is being targeted by this type of contract, and what are the conditions for application?
Junior professor chairs are primarily recruited among researchers with PhD (or equivalent) who have shown throughout their careers their ability to produce world-class research, confirmed by high-quality publications, with experience in project coordination and leadership.
You will develop a research and teaching project in line with the major research themes of INRAE: Agriculture, Food, Environment, as well as the scientific project of the unit in which you will be recruited, and must be willing to work independently.
You will participate in acquiring new knowledge in your fields of expertise, as well as in a teaching project with the partner establishments. You will also participate in the transfer of your results to society. You must have a solid collaborative network abroad, particularly in Europe to participate in and/or lead European and/or international projects. In addition to the scientific output, the functions of leadership, management, and coordination of projects and European networks will need to be intensified.
There are no limitations regarding age or nationality.
What is the recruitment process?
- First of all, look at the four calls for candidates that give details of the type and objectives of the research and teaching projects concerned. The funding and resources associated with the different projects are also explained. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the scientific managers whose contact details are shown on each call for candidates
- To apply, you must complete the application file and append the full versions of a maximum of six publications, together with the other documents required. You must provide information on your professional career, scientific expertise and motivations

To facilitate your submission, you are asked to send all the documents regarding your application via filesender or wetransfer; a link will thus be created that you can include in your message.
Your application will be reviewed by a Recruitment Committee. Once all the application files have been examined, and if your application is accepted, you will be interviewed.
Following the interviews, the Committee will reach its decision while taking account of the quality, originality and, if relevant, the interdisciplinarity of the research and teaching project you have presented, your motivations and your abilities regarding the scientific management and teaching aspects of the post.
